These are the June photos, all of them, finally in one place.
Over 5,000,000 meals provided, by more than 100,000 people who decided to care. June is the latest chapter of that.
Take your time with them. You will never meet these dogs, and they will never know you. But somebody showed up for them in June, and for a dog with nothing, that is the whole world.
How June Unfolded
Our local partners were out again, same as every month.
Food bought in bulk and carried out to the same routes. Rice and meat cooked in big basins, then portioned out bowl by bowl. Dry food poured for the stops where cooking is not possible.
It is slow, repetitive work, and none of it looks impressive in a photo. Every piece of jewelry purchased from Rescue Paws helps us provide 10 meals to abandoned dogs, and in June that is exactly what it turned into: bowls filled, stop after stop, week after week.
The Bowls Weren't Always Bowls
This is the part of June that stayed with us.
Look through these photos and you will see meals served on a banana leaf. On a flattened piece of cardboard. On a feed sack laid flat in the grass. Straight onto a clean patch of pavement at the edge of a road.
Not every stop has a stack of steel bowls waiting. When a dog is hungry and there is food in the bag, a plate becomes whatever is flat, clean and already there.
Nobody photographs that thinking it will end up anywhere. It is just what you do when you would rather feed the dog now than come back tomorrow with better equipment.
And Some Days It Was Row After Row Of Bowls
At the bigger stops it looks completely different.
Bowls lined up across the ground, filled one after another, everyone eating at the same time. It takes hours of preparation to make ten minutes look that calm.
That is what having enough food actually buys. Not just a full stomach, but a meal a dog does not have to compete for.
The Stops Along The Road
Some of these dogs do not live anywhere in particular.
They live along a stretch of road, and the only reason anyone knows they are there is that somebody drove past slowly enough to notice. So the food comes to them: a bowl carried out by hand, a bag on the back of a motorbike, a stop of five minutes before moving on to the next one.
Those dogs are the easiest in the world to miss. In June, they were not missed.
What Happens Next
July feeding operations are already underway.
The same routes. The same stops. The dogs who have learned the schedule, and whoever new turns up along the way.
